NEWS-ONE has gathered that Ghanaian Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale is being sued again for allegedly assaulting Rashid Abu at his East Legon residence.
The embattled musician may soon have another court case dangling on his neck; this time, over reports he assaulted one Rashid Abu at his East Legon residence over the weekend.
NEWS-ONE has gathered that the ‘victim’, Rashid, his lawyer, together with a state prosecutor, have taken up a criminal case against Shatta Wale, known in real life as Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr.
“Rashid’s lawyer, together with the police, is pressing charges against Shatta Wale for assaulting him,” the source stated.
Shatta reportedly assaulted Rashid in the presence of his manager, Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, aka Bull Dog, over an amount of GH¢150 the musician owed him.
The ‘Dancehall King’ singer was invited to the Central Police Station for questioning yesterday before the lawsuit was initiated.
But when NEWS-ONE contacted Rashid about the lawsuit, he said: “Now that we are preparing for court, my lawyer has advised me not to speak on the issue.”
According to Rashid, he has fled his residence at Dansoman in Accra because of fear that Shatta Wale and his ‘macho men’ would come and assault him.
“Right now, I am afraid. I can’t even sleep in my house at Dansoman because Shatta Wale knows where I stay. I’m scared he and his thugs will come after me and assault me again,” Rashid told NEWS-ONE.
This will be the second lawsuit filed against Shatta Wale after Charter House sued him for defamation.
The events management and production company is demanding GH¢10 million as damages for the defamatory comments made in the four videos the artiste had uploaded on the social media.
At the first hearing, the court granted an order restraining Shatta Wale from making further defamatory remarks about Charter House.
Shatta Wale has been begging for an out-of-court settlement of the case and has formally written to lawyers of Charter House to that effect.
